Romano Valente Director General @ UNRAE

Born in Naples, he has been covering executive positions in the automotive sector for 35 years.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, he joins Alfa Romeo in its joint venture with Nissan, and is in charge of quality checks. In 1988 he becomes Area Manager in Catania. He is then appointed production supervisor and is in charge of the launch of Alfa Romeo models Alfa 33, Alfa 75 and Alfa 155 on the European marketplace.
In 1992 Honda Automobili Italia appoints him Aftersales Marketing Manager; in 1996 he is first appointed Head of Press Office, and then Marketing and Communications Manager.
In 2001 he is back at Fiat, in charge of the Lancia brand. In 2003 he is appointed International Marketing Manager of a multinational gas company in Paris. Back in Italy, in 2004 he is CEO at Suzuki Italia, where he helps increase sales by 48% and is elected Manager of the Year by Interauto News.
In 2009 he is Vice President and Managing Director at Hyundai. During his two-year term, he manages to double the company’s sales volumes and market share.
In 2011 he is back at Fiat (for the third time) as Sales Director of European and Japanese markets.
He has been Director General of UNRAE (Association of foreign car makers) since 2012.
