The new layout of Autopromotec 2019

Enrica Lazzarini

From May 22nd to 26th, Bologna will host, once again, the international garage equipment and automotive after-sales exhibition. The map
A new look for Autopromotec. The international garage equipment and automotive after-sales trade show, to be held in Bologna from 22nd to 26th May 2019 keeps evolving, and for its twenty-eighth edition new contents - mobility of the future, development of “smart” equipment as well as innovative materials for components and spare parts – will be unveiled and explained in a totally redesigned layout. Exhibitors and visitors alike will find a renovated exhibition space, designed taking into account both the changes that are currently affecting the automotive market and the needs of the visitors. In fact, the 162thousand-square-metre exhibition space - 4,000 more than the 2017 edition – will host companies and multinationals representing over 580 product categories, providing more than adequate coverage to all the sub-sectors of the aftermarket which, according to a research carried out by McKinsey, a consulting firm, generated last year alone, a commercial global value estimated at around 800 billion euro. However, greater developments are expected in the future as elements such as electric and shared mobility will significantly impact the automotive sector. This growth will vary significantly depending on the global areas, being more relevant in emerging markets - especially in Asia - and more consistent in traditional markets such as the US and Europe. And it is precisely on these key elements that Autopromotec 2019, through a series of conferences and dedicated meetings, will prove to be the ideal place to discuss, along with International operators and experts, all the possible future scenarios.
New exhibition space
The most remarkable changes will concern the area that includes exhibition halls 28, 29 and 30. The different layout of the available spaces, following the recent restyling of the Bologna exhibition centre, will cater for the needs of the growing number of exhibitors. Looking at the map, one cannot help noticing that the brand new hall 28 and part of 29 have been reserved for lubricant companies. A sector that has significantly increased its presence at the fair compared to the previous event. Sectors such as garage equipment and body shops have also witnessed a growing number of registrations. In this case, the exhibitors, besides occupying hall 26 as in 2017, will also be able to use part of hall 29 which, in turn, was enlarged and is therefore able to host more companies. The expansion of this area goes hand in hand with the soaring business volumes and the new trends that are affecting the automotive world, as well as the growing importance of lubricants in repair and maintenance activities. Hall 29, inside the Mall area, will also host a space dedicated to B2B meetings with foreign buyers (in 2017 the organizers chose the service centre). Hall 30, on the other hand, will be entirely dedicated to diagnostic equipment, with twice as much space as during the 2017 edition (where this sector was housed in Hall 14 and a section of hall 30). The sector dedicated to equipment and machinery for tire dealers, workshops and car lifts will also be repositioned in a wider area, finding its perfect location in halls 19, 14 and part of the 22. Outside, between halls 19 and 14, a demonstration area will further support the activities of the sector.
Some things don’t change
Many changes but also many confirmations compared to the previous edition. During the five days of the fair Halls 15, 20 and 22, will once again host tire and wheels manufacturers, both new and retreads as well as accessories and related services. The tire industry is at the forefront of technological research and driving the development of “smart” tires able to communicate with the vehicle's software, detecting any anomaly or malfunction and communicating directly with the driver or the workshop thanks to remote diagnostics. Halls 16, 18 and 21, instead, will be dedicated to spare parts, components and car services. Hall 36, will exhibit garage tools, compressors and multi-purpose equipment, while Hall 25 will continue to be dedicated to equipment and products for service stations, car wash and car care. Just as the previous edition, the 2019 edition will provide suitable space to AutopromotecEDU, a think tank dedicated to analyzing the latest issues and most innovative ideas in the aftermarket sector. All the events connected to AutopromotecEdu will take place within the service centre.
