BioCNG and bioGNL: on the road to resilience
Biomethane is a renewable fuel produced by reusing waste, residues and refuse. It is neutral in terms of CO2 emissions and contributes significantly to the decarbonisation of transport. It is a traditionally Made in Italy biofuel that can be used, in compressed and liquefied form, without any modifications to vehicles, light and heavy, fuelled by fossil methane. Cars powered by petrol and diesel, as well as heavy duty vehicles, can be “transformed” using kits, thanks to the know-how of component companies and the network of workshops historically active in this sector. It is transported and supplied by the infrastructure throughout Italy, including the islands, and has now replaced fossil natural gas used in motor vehicles.
These and other advantages of the use of biomethane and bioGNL in transport will be discussed by the main players in the supply chain with Federmetano, the historical national association of methane distributors and transporters.
