She Can Do It Bologna Edition: empowering women drivers at Casa Autopromotec

27/11/2025
The first #SheCanDoIt Bologna Edition event was held yesterday, Wednesday 26 November, at Casa Autopromotec, in the workshop of the Scuola Nazionale Federpneus.
The format, created by Elena Spelta, tyre dealer and workshop owner, known on social media as @lagommaviola, as well as deputy vice-president of the Cremona Confcommercio women's tertiary group, involves a class composed entirely of women, who engage in activities that help them take care of their vehicles, both on a daily basis and in emergencies. From checking the oil level to topping up the windscreen washer fluid to changing a flat tyre, Elena Spelta explains and demonstrates how to become familiar with your car and take care of your own safety.
It is precisely the matter of safety that led Autopromotec to host the Bologna edition of this course. According to data reported by UNRAE (National Union of Foreign Motor Vehicle Representatives), in 2024 in Italy, 344,580 women obtained their driving licence, 41.7% of car registrations were made by women, and 40.3% of the private car fleet in circulation, i.e. one in every 2.5 cars, was driven by a woman.
These figures remind us how important it is to involve women drivers in vehicle care and maintenance practices, encouraging greater participation and awareness among women so that they do not delegate their personal autonomy and road safety to third parties. With this focus on inclusion and participation, it becomes even more crucial to build a relationship of trust with one's mechanic, allowing female drivers to see the workshop as an integral part of their daily lives.
In the context of activities aimed at achieving gender equality, yesterday's meeting is a small example of the concrete contribution that Autopromotec is committed to making in the automotive aftermarket sector. In addition to courses for female drivers, there are also plans for events dedicated to reception services in workshops and collaborations for the promotion and normalisation of the presence of women in our sector, whose companies are often already led by women.
Among these understandings, we would mention the one with the Fratelli Cozzi Museum, which curates the photographic exhibition “Donne e Motori? Gioie e basta”. Not only did we host the photos from the third edition of the exhibition, but we are also among the protagonists and promoters of the fourth edition, which supports UN Women's #heforshe campaign on the importance of involving men in order to bring about truly profound, deep-rooted and lasting change in the area of women's empowerment.
Among the guests attending the event were Elisabetta Cozzi, owner of the Fratelli Cozzi Museum, Elena Penazzi, councillor for the Imola racetrack, tourism and major events, Linda Villano, president and co-founder of Aida - Associazione Italiana Donne per l'Automotive (Italian Women's Automotive Association), and Monica Zanetti, co-founder of Scuderia Belle Epoque and AWA-Automotive Women Association.
